Square Enix has updated their preview site for the Jump Festa showing of Final Fantasy XIII: Fabula Nova Crystallis. All three games in the compilation are slated to be shown in some form or other. The text on the site reads as follows:
"A sense of layered incongruity produces a new story. A color... that isn't a color at all? It is the brightness of a crystal.
The magnificent project "Fabula Nova Crystallis" which envelopes "Final Fantasy XIII" will create in each a protagonist, a different view of the world and a different story. The title has the meaning "a story of the new crystals", and each game develops a different story with a common mythology.
At Jump Festa, you will see the latest trailers in a specially installed theatre, so please drop in early."
Additionally, the site also contains the first clear image of the character from the TGS pamphlet (speculated to be the card-playing kid from the previously released character art by Nomura) from Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

Coinciding with the PS3's Japanese launch, a new TV spot has surfaced, featuring Final Fantasy XIII. There isn't much in the way of new footage... but it's still pretty cool, given that FFXIII isn't even a launch title.

Dengeki Playstations's recent interview with Motomu Toriyama and Tetsuya Nomura, has given us a few more minute details about FFXIII and Versus. As stated in previous interviews, the two once again said that Square Enix was hard at work on their White Engine, the engine on which both games will run.
Nomura further said that, in Versus, he aims to create "tricky" battle scenes, reminiscent of those seen in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. He also confirmed that in addition to the male character seen in the trailers (seen if you were lucky enough to attend the events at which they were screened, that is) Versus would also have a heroine.
The male protagonist of Versus is the heir to the throne of his country, the last place in the world to control one of the mythical Crystals. As it turns out, his homeland has recently come under attack. Nomura also revealed that this mysterious royal's eyes turn red when wielding his sword.
On the FFXIII front, Toriyama dropped a few hints that a new trailer is in the making (probably for Jump Festa next month), and that it will feature as-yet-unseen characters.

IGN has just posted an interview with Toriyama and Nomura, directors of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, respectively. Much of the information is what we have already heard from the Electric Shock magazine interview of the two directors, but there are some new tidbits, and a few things have been clarified.
- FFXIII was originally planned for the PS2, but underwent a platform change in May 2005. According to Toriyama, much has changed since the original conception of the game that had been under development for the PS2. Many graphical elements had to be discarded, and battle/gameplay systems had to be completely redone when the decision to move the game to the PS3 became final. The Fabula Nova Crystallis world and mythology, along with character details, however, were kept.
- In addition to technical changes, there have been some major changes to the staff working on XIII. Originally, the team was made up of the people who works on Final Fantasy X-2. Since the platform change, many new people have been brought in.
- Nomura says that the difficulties in working with the PS3 are greater than those encounter when the PS2 was first introduced. Square Enix's programmers will be working under Yoshinori Kitase on the White Engine in order to take full advantage of the PS3's power.
- The White Engine is not meant solely for Final Fantasy XIII. Different next-gen games are being developed using different versions of the engine. Final Fantasy Versus XIII will also use a version of the White Engine.
- Toriyama is working hard to get a Final Fantasy XIII playable demo ready as soon as possible.
